Calcutta, June 21: Sintex Industries Ltd, the largest plastic water tank makers in the world, has decided to shift focus to its wide-ranging industrial and engineering products and concentrate on exports to penetrate southeast asian markets, a top company official said."Sintex, which has become synonymous with plastic water tanks, has plans to shift focus to its 150 industrial and engineering products, which constitute about 55 per cent of the total turnover of the company," company director SB Dangayach, said.
The Rs 250 crore company, which had pioneered almost all its product ranges in the country, has also targetted about 200 per cent increase in its export volumes in the next two years, he said.
The company, which has more than 60 per cent market share in most of its industrial and engineering products, enhanced production capacity in these sectors in the last two years, keeping in view its shifting focus on industrial product lines, he said.
The company has also recently introduced the`state-of-the-art supertuff range of pallets' used in pharmaceuticals and food processing industries, which enjoys the largest share of about 90 per cent among all its products in the domestic market.
"After capacity enhancement and technology upgradation, we are now revamping the marketing network both in the domestic and overseas markets," general manager (marketing) SM Anerao, said.
In the export front, the company would give thrust to south-east Asia and US markets, Dangayach, who conceptualised the rotational moulding tanks, said.
The company, which had a production volume of about 300 million litres per annum, was the largest manufacturer of rotational moulding tanks volumewise, he said.
Besides the tanks and containers, Sintex also expected a good response from targetted markets for its engineering products including insulated electrical boxes and industrial pallets.
The pallets, in particular, were already being used by leading pharma manufacturers in domestic sector including Ranbaxy,Dabur, Cadila, Glaxo, Cipla and Torrent, Dangayach said.
For export markets, the company would also offer its unique "custom moulding facilities" to overseas buyers which enables it to turn out new products specific to the requirements of the industrial units, he said.
