Russia firms sign price control deal

MOSCOW: More than 50 Russian companies agreed on Wednesday to impose price controls in key sectors of the economy until the end of this year, Interfax news agency reported. "An agreement on cooperation on stabilising the situation in the Russian economy, calling for maintaining a certain level of prices from June 1 to December 31 was signed," it said, adding that the deal covered fuel and energy, metals and transport.Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
