Jaipur, June 9: The Rajsthan government has sought Rs 2500 crore assistance from the World Bank for constrcution of roads. The government hopes to have discussions with the Bank in the coming days, says state PWD minister Herendra Mirdha.The Centre has also allowed the state to have three new National Highways running over 900 km. Work on these highways will be completed in a time-bound manner. ``We want the work to be completed at the earliest and no problem will be there in finding the resources'', said the minister.
Work on the four-laning of the highway between Kotputli and Gurgaon on the Jaipur-Delhi highway would be completed by the end of the current year. The four laning has already been done between Jaipur and Kotputli.
In the current year, the government would spend Rs 226 crore on the maintenance of roads. The road condition of 6225 km length would be improved. No less than 385 villages would also be connected with roads with the panchayats.
On construction of new roads a sum of Rs 385crore would be spent with the widening alone covering 4125 km.
