Jammu, June 9: In the ongoing fierce gunbattles in Kargil sector, Indian troops achieved a major success by recapturing two main positions in Batalik sub-sector and pushing back infiltrators close to the line of control early on Wednesday, according to top defence sources.The troops gunned down 13 infiltrators and injured over 30 others when they captured the two main locations north-east of Juber Indian post. Three army jawans were killed and as many critically injured in the action, the sources at northern command headquarters said.
The major operation to dislodge pakistan-backed infiltrators from Batalik sub-sector commenced late in the evening and after several hours of heavy exchange of fire, the troops captured the two main positions in Batalik, the sources said.
``Our three soldiers laid down their lives in the action and other three were injured, who were airlifted to military hospital for the treatment'', the sources said.
The sources said in next action we will push infiltrators out of ourterritory. However, Pakistani troops are trying to push in a group of over hundred armed infiltrators into Batalik area from their forward post Shungarati close to LoC, the sources added.
However, Indian troops are alert and will not allow this to happen at any cost, the sources said adding that fierce gunbattles between the troops and the infiltrators were on in Kargil, Drass and Batalik sectors of Ladakh for the fifteenth day today.
``Our actions in all these areas have been successful in pushing back armed infiltrators to the LoC in the sectors'', the souces said.
Meanwhile, India asserted that there would be no compromise in vacating the Pakistani-backed intrusion in Kargil and bluntly stated that Islamabad cannot abdicate its responsibility for whatever happens from their territory.
Even as Pakistan formally conveyed through its mission here acceptance of June 12 date proposed by India for the visit of foreign minister Sartaj Aziz, New Delhi made it amply clear that the talks would be structuredaround the one-point agenda--how to end the intrusion in Kargil.
Pakistan foreign minister Sartaj Aziz will be travelling to Beijing to brief Chinese authorities on the current situation in kashmir, a day before his scheduled visit to New Delhi to meet his Indian counterpart Jaswant Singh.
Aziz will be leaving for Beijing toady for a working visit to China to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Tang Jiaxuan and "brief him on the current situation arising from escalation of military action by India in kashmir," a release said.
The foreign minister will return to Islamabad on Friday and then will travel to New Delhi the very next day to meet Jaswant Singh to discuss the Kargil situation.
