The coaches produced by RCF are being used in speedier train like Rajdhani and Shatabdi Expresses.The release said RCF produced its first coach in 1987-88. It increased to 120 and 175 coaches during the next two years. Then, the production gained momentum and it produced 1,115 coaches in 1992-93.

The first AC coach was manufactured by the unit in 1991-92. During 1998-99, RCF has produced 1,087 coaches, including 230 AC coaches. In this year, it diversified its product profile and manufactured special types of coaches like inspection cars and self-propelled accident relief trains (ART). The ART accommodates all necessary re-railing and relief equipment along with provision for 27 personnel with living and kitchen actilities.
