Jaipur, June 8: Rajasthan will cater to the daily milk requirement of soldiers engaged in ``Operation vijay'' in Kargil, a senior Jaipur dairy official said today. The first consignment of about 9,000 litres of milk packed in special ``tetra packs'' has already left for Srinagar by trucks on Saturday last, the marketing division official said.
Under a contract between the dairy and the army about 3.50 lakh litres of milk would be supplied on a subsidised rate, he said.
The tetra packs would be airlifted for Kargil, Drass and Batalik from Srinagar, he said.
The Jaipur and dausa milk producers' cooperative societies would provide the required quota to the Jaipur dairy, he said.
Each tetra pack has a shelf life of 90 days at room temperature, he added.
