Truck rates may remain steady

Mumbai: Freight rates for nine-tonne load vehicles from Mumbai to remaining parts of the country may remain firm for the week ahead, transporters said. In the last week, the rates to certain states declined in the Rs 100-500 range. The rates to Jammu & Kashmir remained steady due to movement of defence goods.

The freight rates to Himachal Pradesh declined slightly. The Mumbai to Shimla rates dipped marginally by Rs 200 to Rs 18,300 while rates to Shimoga were down by Rs 300 to Rs 17,200.

The truck rates to Delhi, however, rose by Rs 200 to Rs 14,200. The rates to Haryana and Punjab moved in the range of Rs 100-1,000. The Mumbai to Patna rates dipped to Rs 20,200, registering a Rs 800 fall in the last fortnight. The truck rates to few cities like Jamshedpur and Bhagalpur were down by Rs 300.

The rates to Uttar Pradesh too reported a marginal fall.In the western sector also the freight rates to Gujarat moved in the Rs 100-300 range. The rates to Surat were down by Rs 200 to Rs 3,000. The truck rates toMadhya Pradesh too showed Rs 100-300 fall. The rates to Satna were down by Rs 300 to Rs 11,000.

The rates to Jaipur and Bharathpur (in Rajasthan) decreased by Rs 200 each to Rs 11,300 and Rs 12,300, respectively. The freight rates within Maharashtra remained steady.

The Mumbai to Assam rates were also same in the last week. The rates to Raniganj and Siliguri reported at Rs 500 decrease. The Mumbai to Calcutta rates substantially declined to Rs 19,500 from Rs 21,000.

The truck rates Cuttack and Bhubaneshwar were at Rs 17,200 and Rs 16,000. The freight rates from Mumbai to southern cities largely remained same. The rates to Vizag were down by Rs 200 to Rs 12,800. The truck rates from Mumbai to Bangalore were steady at Rs 10,000. The rates to Chennai too remained at Rs 13,200. The rates to Trichur and Cochin were down by Rs 200 each to Rs 14,800 and Rs 14,300, respectively.
