Hewlett-Packard Company and Software.com Inc. have announced a strategic alliance to deliver carrier-scale messaging solutions to service providers who offer consumer and business messaging services. As part of this alliance, HP has purchased an equity stake in Software.com. HP claimed that now it can leverage Software.com's intermail family of products as a cornerstone of its smart internet messaging solution. The combined solution is optimised for service providers who are building business messaging service, or "hosted messaging", in which small to large enterprises engage service providers to host and manage their messaging capabilities, HP said in a statement.
