GE Capital signs MoU with AP

GE Capital International Services (GECIS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of GE Capital, on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government to set up a major IT-enabled services remote processing business facility in Hyderabad. As per the MoU, GECIS will purchase the land from APIIC for expansion of its IT-enabled services (remote processing) business duly availing the incentives available under the IT incentives policy recently announced by the state government.

BT, Nortel to build largest telephony network

British Telecom and Nortel Networks have announced that BT's Spanish subsidiary will build the world's largest national internet telephony and multimedia network. It will use the latest internet protocol technology from Nortel Networks and will be capable of supporting more customers than any other existing national IP telephony network in the world.

i2 Technologies to acquire SMART

i2 Technologies, a developerof electronic business process optimisation solutions, has agreed to acquire SMART Technologies, a company in internet-based customer relationship solutions. The acquisition will extent i2's solutions range and provide customers with end-to-end intelligent e-business solutions. i2 will acquire all of SMART's stock and outstanding options in exchange for approximately 2.1 million shares of its common stock.

Tata Infotech launches edutech centres

Tata Infotech has launched computer education centres that can conduct training through interactive software courses. These centres have been launched in association with US-based CBT Systems and will provide computer-based training using technology, software and methodology developed by CBT.

Microland to manage GE Capital's facilities

GE Capital International has selected Microland to manage their facilities and provide comprehensive operations and systems management under the prISM suite of services. The prISM is a comprehensive facilitiesmanagement services suite from Microland professional services.
