New Delhi, Jun 1: Riding on the huge demand for stripped down variants of its 796cc Matiz, Daewoo Motors India Ltd (DMIL) has registered a sharp 300 per cent surge in its car sales during May.DMIL had received orders in excess of 3,000 cars from customers and has already delivered 2,050 cars, a statement issued here on Tuesday said.
According to Daewoo Motor India managing director SG Awasthi, "This trend is very encouraging and reflects the consumers' acceptance and recognition of technology and more value which our products offer for money. Looking at the enquiry levels and traffic at dealer points, further demand upsurge is expected."
In order to met the continuously increasing demand for the Matiz, Daewoo has stepped up production to 2,500-3,000 cars per month.
Daewoo Motor India had launched three additional variants of the Matiz in mid-April, which had resulted in an overwhelming response from consumers. Matiz meets both Euro-I and Euro-II emission norms since its launch in October lastyear.
DMIL is among the first car companies to have ben allowed unrestricted sale of its vehicles in the national capital region since all its proucts conform to the Euro-II emission norms.
