New Delhi, May 28: Maruti Udyog said on Friday that it will introduce Euro-I compliant vehicles in the national capital region from June 7 onwards.MUL managing director RSSLN Bhaskarudu told reporters after a four-hour long board meeting that the company has been working hard to make vehicles Euro-I compliant. "Our engineers are working very closely with Suzuki Motors and we are confident of introducing Euro-I vehicles in the first week of June," he said.
Earlier in the day the company submitted Euro-I compliance certification for all vehicles (except for Omni and Gypsy) to the Delhi transport department, company officials said.
Bhaskarudu said the company is also well on course to meet Euro-II norms of April 1, 2000, as stipulated by the Supreme Court. "We definitely will be meeting Euro-II from April 1, 2000, as desired by the Supreme Court," he said. He retierated that the company was not mulling any price hike in the near future.
Emerging from the board meting, Bhaskarudu said it was a regularand routine meeting. "We discussed many normal items," he said. Joint managing director Jagdish Khattar refused to comment on the proceedings.
The board of directors is reported to have ratified the appointments of Jagdish khattar and J Sugimori as the second managing director and director (marketing) of Maruti Udyog respectively.
The board also discussed the implications of the recent Supreme Court order on emission norms on the company's bottomlines. It also took up the issue of new models to be introduced in the coming fiscal.
