KPCL commissions Kadra Dam unitKarnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) has commissioned the third and final unit of Kadra Dam Power House on Friday. The 150mw Kadra hydro electric project with a total investment of Rs 341 crore and located in Uttara Kannada district is a part of integrated power development scheme of Kali basin. Unit-I and unit-II were commissioned during June 1998 and January 1999 respectively. The annual energy benefit from this project will be 570 million units.
Wockhardt plant gets ISO-9002
The Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company Wockhardt's plant at Chikalthana, Aurangabad, has become the company's second factory to be granted the ISO-9002 certificate, awarded by SGS Yarsley ICS, UK, an internationally recognised certifying authority. This certificate confirms the quality management system of the formulation and bulk drug divisions of the Chikalthana plant, a company release said. Wockhardt's plant at Ankleshwar, in Gujarat, was awarded the ISO-9002 certification inJune 1988.
Bangla keen on Bhel plants
Bangladesh has shown keen interest in the gas-based power plants and solar photovoltaic activities of the state-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel), a company release said. During a visit of a high level delegation led by commerce and industry minister of Bangladesh, Tofail Ahmed, to the electronics systems division of Bhel in Bangalore, it was suggested that the company could set up pilot units in the rural areas of Bangladesh.
Corporates violate TDS
Indian Oil Corporation, NIIT and HCL among other corporates have been covered by a survey conducted by the Income Tax department to detect any violations in tax deduction at source (TDS) for inadmissible payments made, according to highly placed IT officials. "Income tax department had carried out the survey in April year on certain corporates on TDS violation wherein names of NIIT, HCL and IOC have figured," sources in IT department said.
Him Neel appoints CEO
AS Wadhwa has joined aspresident and CEO of Him Neel Breweries Ltd. The company produces famous Haake beck beer under licensing agreement with Brauerei Beck and Company of Bremen in Germany. The brewery has a state-of-art plant in Himachal Pradesh. Wadhwa was earlier consultant at south Asia subsidiary for Stroh Brewery Company in the US.
Power station shutdown
The 140mw lignite-based thermal power station at Pandhro in Kutch district has been shut down as waterlogging in the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation lignite mines dut to rains disrupted the supply of the fuel to the power station since last four days. Gujarat Electricity Board said about 179 feeders transmitting power were also damaged.
