Sebi panel to meet over margin problemsThe Sebi-appointed committee on margins has decided to meet in the last week of May to thrash out problems related to the interpretation and implementation of margins at the exchange level. Sebi has also decided to call for a meeting of the inter-exchange surveillance group to facilitate the introduction of uniform holidays at all exchanges. Confirming the move, senior executive director of Sebi, LK Singhvi, explained that the discrepancies on account of the differences in the holidays between the leading bourses of the country lead to a lot problems in terms of price discovery.

Anmi meets finance secretary
The Association of NSE Members of India (Anmi) on Friday urged the Government to constitute an economic surveillance cell to monitoractivities of vanishing companies and take action against unscrupulous traders so that small investors return to the capital market. Anmi members also impressed upon finance secretary Vijay Kelkar at a meeting in New Delhi the need to reduce capital markets' dependence on foreign funds by enthusing small investors to participate in the stock market and channelling resources of mutual, pension and provident funds to the market.
