Chennai, May 19: The DMK would hold its general council meeting here on June 2 to ratify the party's alliance with the BJP, PMK, MDMK and Tamizhaga Rajiv Congress (TRC), the DMK president M Karunanidhi said here on Wednesday.After a meeting with MDMK chief Vaiko, who called on him at his residence to formalise MDMK's alliance with the DMK, Karunanidhi told reporters that the DMK would soon constitute a committee for holding seat sharing talks with its poll partners.
He described his meeting with Vaiko as 'cordial'.
Asked whether the DMK-led front in Tamil Nadu would have other parties, he said, "You will know about it in due course."
Asked if the DMK's rally here on June 2 on the occasion of Karunanidhi'S 76th birthday would be used to kick off election campaign in the state, he said, "All our public meetings are our election campaign meetings."
The DMK has planned to celebrate the 76th birthday of Karunanidhi, which falls on June 3, in a big way.
DMK sources said the party would be invitingPrime Minister AB Vajpayee and other national leaders for the rally.
