Karnataka okays BPCL's LPG bottling unit plan

Bangalore, May 18: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) is setting up its LPG bottling plant in Hoskote Taluk near here with a total outlay of Rs 22 crore. The unit will have a capacity to produce 44,000 tonne of LPG per annum.

An investment proposal by the company on this account was cleared by the state level single window agency on Monday. Apart from this bottling unit, the Karnataka government has given go ahead for 10 projects worth Rs 205.20 crore.

The projects include the Rs 20.70 crore power project by Hospet Power Ltd. Hospet Power Ltd is an arm of the Kalyani Group of Industries. The company is planning to set up a 5.3 mw power plant in Koppal district.

The state level single window agency has approved an investment proposal worth Rs 18.26 crore by Noorani Properties Ltd for setting up a software technology park.

Other projects cleared by the agency include Rs 8 crore fruit bars manufacturing unit of Nutrine Sweets Ltd and Rs 2.5 crore industrial alcohol unit of Maruti OrganicsLtd.

Stanzen Toyotetsu India Pvt Ltd is putting up a Rs 17 crore automobile component manufacturing unit in Bidadi Industrial Area. Stanzen is a joint venture between Toyoda Iron Workd Co Ltd, Toyota Tshuho Corporation and Stanzen Techno Pvt Ltd. The proposed unit would supply components to Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd.

The state level single window agency also approved investment proposals by two pharmaceutical companies. Pharmacia and Upjohn India Pvt Ltd are setting up a intraocular lenses unit in Bangalore with an outlay of Rs 30.04 crore, while the Bangalore-based Strides Arcolab Ltd is establishing its Rs 6.62 crore penicillin/betalactum injection plant.

Vishwanath Sugar Group's three projects worth Rs 102.07 crore were also cleared on Monday. The group is setting up its units for white crystal sugar, rectified spirit and power generation.
