CALCUTTA, May 17: ITC Ltd has announced the launch of a new international pack of Benson & Hedges cigarettes in India. According to an ITC press statement, India is one of the first markets where the new pack is being released. The two variants of the international brand have been distinguished by encasing the words-Special Filter and Lights-in red and deep blue respectively on the golden pack. The tear-off ribbon has also been made transparent.
ITC's general manager, brands, K Dasaratharaman, said: ``The new pack is another global initiative towards the promise of quality and international standards.'' The pack inserts, pioneered by the brand in India, also talk about the new-look pack of B&H.
B&H has tried to constantly focus on creativity since its launch in India and has associated the brand with paintings and other creative arts.
The price of the brand has not yet changed and the release says that a B&H pack of 20s will still be sold for Rs 53 as usual. However, ITC recently did announce changesin the price of quite a few of its brands in the middle segment. However the prices of its premium brands have been left untouched for the time being.
The change in the design of the B&H pack follows shortly after the change in the design of the India Kings pack and the decision to use the chess king piece for the campaign of India Kings.
At Rs 57 for a pack of 20s, India Kings is the costliest cigarette sold in India. ITC changed the Wills pack in December 1998 and has recently hiked its prices.
