Delhi government on Monday said it would move the court against the NTPC for threatening to discontinue power supply if the city government failed to clear the pending dues. "We can even go to court," power minister Narendra Nath told reporters at Bamnauli power sub-station complex in South West Delhi. He said, unlike other states which have been served with the NTPC notice, Delhi though with a state government still has a Union territory status. "If there is a liability with Delhi government, Centre cannot wash off its hands. It is also responsbile to clear the liability," Nath said..

BHEL bags order for Kulu hydel project

BHEL has bagged an order from the Bhilwara Group for the supply of hydro generating equipment for their 86 mw Malana hydro electric project. The project is coming up in the Kulu district of Himachal Pradesh. The order envisages manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of two hydro turbines of 43 mw each with matchinggenerators, busduct, static excitation equipment besides auxiliaries.

Rail committee on administrative laws

The railway ministry is setting up a committee to review the follow-up action on the report of the commission on administrative laws. To be chaired by OSD (Traffic) J K Thapar in the Railway Board, it would have eight more members, including the board's executive director (efficiency and research) N P Singh as member secretary.

Phdcci for power commission in Himachal

The Phd Chamber of Commerce and Industry has demanded that a state level Power Regulatory Commission (PRC) should be constituted in Himachal Pradesh with primary function of balancing interests of the state consumers and investors. It can also regulate power tariff, adjudicate on power matters and advise the state government on power issues, Phdcci president Ashok Khanna said at a press conference on Sunday. Such regulatory commissions have already been set up in Orissa, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, hesaid. The government should price the electricity at a rate equivalent to cost plus reasonable return to the electricity board, he added.
