Sudarshan Chemical posts Rs 1.79cr net
Sudarshan Chemical Industries Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 1.79 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 1999. While net sales was at Rs 50.38 crore, gross profit stood at Rs 4.64 crore. Other income was at Rs 25 lkh. Total expenditure stood at Rs 43.73 crore, interest was at Rs 2.26 crore. Depreciation stood at Rs 2.35 crore.Ford's new model
Ford Motor said in a release on Friday that the C195, scheduled to be launched later this year, would be Euro-II emission norms compliant. This announcement was in line with the Supreme Court order of April 21 last on enforcement of Euro-II fuel emission norms by April 2000. Ford India also announced that the Ford Escort (petrol), which had been tested for Euro i norms, also met all requisitions laid down for the Euro-II requirements, the release added.
Elgi targets 60% market share
With the launch of Horizon series of compressors, the Rs 150 crore Coimbatore-based Elgi Equipments plans to grab60 per cent of the domestic market share, a top company official said. The 40-years-old Elgi company which has a technical tie-up with Ferrymann Diesel of Germany has 38 per cent of the domestic market share producing 3,500 compressors every month, executive director Harjeet Singh said.
Arvind Lalbhai bags award
Arvind Lalbhai, chairman of Arvind Mills, a flagship company of the Rs 3,000 crore Lalbhai group, has been selected for the Gujarat businessman award for 1998, instituted by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) three years ago to recognise and honour the outstanding achievements of the businessmen. Justice BJ Diwan, former chief justice of Gujarat high court headed the award selection committee.
HIL to produce building blocks
Hyderabad Industries Ltd (HIL), a company of the CK Birla group, has put up a state-of-the-art plant to produce building blocks, in collaboration with a UK-based company in suburban Tiruvallur. The plant would annually produce 1.50 lakhcubic metres (equivalent to 75 million bricks per annum) of building blocks, an alternative to clay bricks.
23 projects for Expo 2000
A total of 23 projects from India have been nominated to Expo 2000, the international exhibition to be held in Germany from June one to October 31 next year. A key new element of the global exposition is presentation of projects from all over the world under the title `Humankind, nature, technology.' About four crore visitors from 160 countries are expected at the Hannover show.
MRTPC discharges NoE against Coke
The Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission has discharged Notices of Enquiry (NoE) against Coca Cola (India) Ltd and Expo Machinery Ltd, a subsidiary of erstwhile Kelvinator of India Ltd. In a hearing on Friday, the commission discharged the NoE against Coca Cola on the ground there is no material on record showing involvement of the multinational company in any kind of monopolistic and/or restrictive trade practices.
