H-P scanner sale doubles in March

Hewlett-Packard India scanner sales have doubled in March by touching 1,400 units. The sale of `Scanjet 3200' recorded a sale of 1,400 units in March against a total of 2,397 scanners sold in India, Ashwini Aggarwal, marketing manager of H-P's consumer hydrocopy products said in a statement. The income from scanners was Rs 1 crore with a `Scanjet 3200' priced at Rs 7,200 while Scanjet 4200 version cost Rs 11,700, it said.

Hughes Ispat commissions Worli exchange

Hughes Ispat Ltd (HIL) recently commissioned an exchange in Worli which is its third in Maharashta following the launches in Navi Mumbai and Pune. The technology for this is provided by communications leader NEC of Japan. The exchange is a state-of-the-art fourth generation digital telephone exchange. HIL customers in South Mumbai will be connected to this exchange over optical fibre to the curb technology which is provided by NEC, and WLL technology from Hughes Network Systems.

Wipro developsinverse multiplexing for ATM controller

Wipro Technology Solutions has developed Wipima, an emerging technology solution suite that aggregates multiple digital high speed links (T1/E1 or 2mb lines) in a transparent way. This inverse multiplexing over ATM (a synchronous transfer mode) is being implemented on Altera Corporation's industry leading information technology hardware products, with intellectual property resting with Wipro, a press release said.

Dacom workers to go on strike against takeover plans

Union workers at South Korea's second largest telecom operator Dacom Corp. were set to go on strike on Tuesday to protest against plans by two giant conglomerates to take over the firm. A Dacom Union official said about 2,200 workers would halt work for four days.
