HDFC Bank targets Rs 7,000 cr for 1999-2000

Bangalore, May 4: New generation private sector HDFC Bank has fixed its business target for fiscal 1999-2000 at Rs 7,000 crore as against Rs 4,350 crore in the previous year, the bank's executive director Vinod G Yennemadi said. By March 2000, the bank would have 100 branches in the country, he added.Yennemadi told The Financial Express, "The bank is currerntly on an expansion binge and we will open 40 more branches across the length and breadth of the country taking the number of branches to 100 by the end of the fiscal". The bank is presently in the process of locating suitable properties in various cities, he added. So far, the bank has identified 12 cities in the South and 16 cities in the North.
