Rajahmundry, April 27: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has discovered oil in two wells situated in the eastern and western parts of Kesanapalli area in east Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh this month. The well, drilled in the western side, was estimated to produce about 200 cubic metre (1500 barrels) of oil per day while the one in eastern side would produce 60 cubic metre of oil along with natural gas, group general manager of Krishna Godavari project, ONGC, IB Raina told PTI here.
ONGC has taken up drilling of another well in Kesanapalli west area so as to delineate the oil filed area. The oil bearing wells would be put on production by connecting to the already existing early production terminal, Raina said.
In April, Krishna Godavari project has recorded the highest production of 462 cubic metre on April 23, he said.
ONGC has started acquisition of geo-scientific data last year in the coastal tract by a new technology, `telesels survey,' and it would be continued this yearduring the working season.
This data would be processed and after its interpretation `we are likely to identify new prospects for drilling,' general manager (exploration), Sriramulu said.
`There are prospects to discover more and more oil and gas in this area as we have got leads from the existing drilled wells,' Raina said.
Therefore, a group gathering station to process around 500 tonnes of oil per day was being constructed for the first time by ONGC in KG basin, Raina added.
