IBM launches web self-service solutions
IBM Software has launched web self-service (WSS) solutions, allowing customers to build e-commerce applications that go beyond web-publishing. WSS solutions enable clients, business partners and employees to access information, ask questions and get responses sans human contact and translate into lower transactions costs and improved customer satisfaction and retention.Software exports up by 75%
Software exports increased by 70 per cent in the country while the electronics sector recorded a growth rate of 35 per cent for the year 1998-99. This was disclosed by Ravindra Gupta, secretary, DoE, an official release said in New Delhi on Tuesday. He said the main objective of the DoE was to develop the Indian electronics and to make India a global player in the field of information technology to bring the benefits of IT to every walk of life.
Oracle launches customer relations solutions
Oracle Corporation on Tuesday launched its customerrelationship management (CRM) software in India. "CRM solutions are mainly targeted at service-intensive market segments such as financial services, telecom, power and engineering and customer responsive segments such as hotels and white goods, besides direct marketing companies," Oracle divisional manager-CRM solutions, KS Suresh, told reporters in Mumbai.
Buyback of share by VSNL likely to be delayed
The buyback of shares by VSNL is unlikely to take place before next December, acting CMD Amitabh Kumar has indicated. He told reporters in Bangalore on Monday that with no government in place, the issue was likely to be delayed. "On the buyback, there is no change in our plans. We need to look at for an opportune time," Kumar added.
C-DAC, Mindport sign MoU
C-DAC and the Netherlands-based Mindport, a global media technology provider, will jointly develop and market a digital versatile disc-based multilingual subtitling technology for digital television broadcasting. In an MoU signedrecently, the two agreed to exploit C-DAC's Indian language subtitling technology to allow digital broadcasting of DVD-based programmes over cable and DTH channel, a C-DAC release said in Pune on Tuesday.
Intel introduces Celeron 466
Intel Corporation has announced the launch of its new Celeron processor 466 mhz, the company's fastest processor for personal computers, and the Intel 810 chipset. The processors will enhance the performance and capabilities of PCs, an Intel press release said on Tuesday. The Celeron processor would provide `great performance' for today's applications, including internet access, Atul Vijaykar, director, South Asia, Intel Corporation, said.
