New Delhi, April 22: Extensive issuance of Kisan Credit Cards and introduction of district specific area development schemes through establishment of `farmers clubs' will top the priority list of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) during 1999-2000 in Uttar Pradesh.Besides this, emphasis would be laid on doubling of crop loan flow and tripling of non-programme category term loan flow both under farm and non-farm sectors.
For these schemes, an amount of Rs 127.59 crore has been set aside from Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).
"The state government has also been extended a loan assistance of Rs 10.27 crore for strengthening of capital base of co-opearative credit institutions in the state", the manager of the Uttar Pradesh branch, Sunil Kumar said in a press statement.
The bank's refinance support to the Uttar Pradesh stood at Rs 1,132.88 crore during 1998-99. Of this Rs 686.26 crore was given towards investment credit both under farm and non-farm sectoractivities.
Another Rs 438.39 crore was also given for meeting the production credit requirements of farmers for raising seasonal crops and handloom weavers and artisans and a blance Rs 8.23 crore for conversion of kharif 1998 crop loans fo flood affected farmers into medium term loans thereby making them eligible for a fresh tranche of crop loans in the following rabi season.
The refinance release for investment credit which the highest so far achieved in any state in the country registered a growth of 26 per cent over the last year's achievement.
