MUMBAI, APRIL 18: Freight rates for nine-tonne load vehicles from Mumbai to the rest of the country are likely to move up in narrow band in the week ahead, according to transporters.Last week, the freight rates to most of the states remained same except for Haryana, Punjab and West Bengal to which the rates increased by Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.
The rates to these states increased due to shortage of vehicles and improved cargo movement.
In the past fortnight, the truck rates to Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have remained same. The rates to Delhi too were steady at Rs 12,800. However, the rates to Haryana and Punjab recovered from previous week's fall by gaining Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.
The rates to Panipat and Ambala increased to Rs 14,000 each from Rs 13,200 and Rs 13,000. While in Punjab, the freight rates to Chandigarh improved by Rs 800 to Rs 15,000.
In the western sector, the freight rates remained stable. The freight rates to Surat remained static at Rs 3,100 while rates to Nashik were at Rs3,500. The truck rates to Jaipur too remained at Rs 9,800. Rates to remaining cities in Rajasthan sustained at the same levels after a Rs 500 decrease in the first week of April.
In the eastern region, the freight rates to Assam also did not fluctuate. The rates to Guwahati and Tinsukhia were at Rs 34,000 and Rs 40,000, respectively.
The freight rates to Calcutta increased by Rs 300 to Rs 19,000. The rates to Siliguri substantially improved from Rs 21,000 to Rs 22,200. The rates to Orissa remained steady.
In the south, the truck rates remained more or less stable. The rates to Vizag were at Rs 11,500. The rates to Karnataka and Kerala maintained their fortnight level.
The freight rates to Coimbatore went up by Rs 300 to Rs 12,300.
