Government collapse will sink budget -- Experts
Yashwant Sinha's feel-good budget will become infructous in case the BJP-led coalition Govt. fails to secure the confidence vote in the Lok Sabha. The new Govt. will have to seek a vote-on-account by May 15 as the Finance Bill proposals have to be ratified within 72 days.
Government raises Rs 4,000 cr through private placement
The centre made a private placement of Rs 4,000 crore with the Reserve Bank of India late on Tuesday evening. It re-issued a 19 year 6 month-paper which the central bank has put out on the open market operation (OMO).
Crop insurance scheme to debut in 100 blocks
The modified comprehensive crop insurance scheme (MCIS) will be introduced initially in 100 blocks during the ensuing kharif season. Its scope will be expanded to other parts of the country later.
