Netlabs ties up with Sun Microsystems
Netlabs, the education division of Servion Global Solutions Ltd, the Chennai-based computer telephony integration company has tied up with Sun Microsystems Inc to offer certified Java and Solaris training, a release said. Sun Microsystems would provide basic training packages and courseware, while Netlabs would add substantial value in the areas of applicability and live projects. The course would aim at people who require technology and principles based on Jawa & Solaris.IBM's product support division bags ISO 9002
The product support division of IBM Global Services India has bagged the ISO 9002 certification from KPMG Quality Registrar. The division is responsible for the installation, maintenance and servicing of IBM hardware and software systems, according to a release. The company provides IT services including networking services, product support, learning services, strategic outsourcing, system integration and IT consulting. It mopped upRs 300 crore in revenues from its operations in 1998.
Blue Dart Aviation
Blue Dart Aviation, India's first all jet cargo airline and a subsidiary of Blue Dart Express Ltd, has introduced a software application for the synchronous analysis of the digital flight data recorder (DSFDR) and the cockpit voice recorder (CVR). Claimed to be first of its kind, the software application, according to a company release, records all relevant in-flight conditions, instrument parameters and conversations between the pilot and air traffic controller. The main function of this software is to analyse and synchronise flight recorder readings and effectively monitor in-flight procedures adopted by the crew.
Oracle bags service excellence award
Oracle Software India was awarded a service excellence award by Sony India at its suppliers' conference held in New Delhi on Monday. This award has been specially given to Oracle for the commendable performance in service provided to Sony India for the year1998-99. Sony India has been using the Oracle applications software since 1997. It is the first pilot site for the Oracle applications ERP software amongst all the manufacturing sites of Sony Corporation worldwide.
Reckitt & Colman MD to join Satyam Infoway board
Satyam Infoway, the e-commerce and internet service provider subsidiary of Satyam Computer Services, has roped in Reckitt & Colman managing director Pranab Barua to join its board of directors. The other members of the board are Satyam Computer chairman B Ramalinga Raju, managing director R Ramaraj, C Srinivasa Raju, S Srinivasan, TH Chowdary and Donald Peck, the Commonwealth Development Corp representative.
Agri ministry launches website
The agriculture ministry launched its website on Tuesday. The website, designed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), will contain information about the programmes and schemes of the ministry, prices of farm produces, agricultural statistics, daily weather conditions and various documentsand reports of the ministry. Names and telephone numbers of senior officials in the ministry will also be available on the site. The site can be accessed at http://web.delhi,nic.in/mmapd/agrinew by anyone and from anywhere in the world. The control room can be accessed through e-mail : agrindia@krishi.delhi.nic.in anytime including holidays. The control room can also be accessed through telephone and fax round the clock.
Matter raised in apex court as Prasar Bharati strike continues
The strike by over 28,000 Prasar Bharati employees took a new turn on Tuesday with several hundred strikers courting arrest amid threats of intensifying stir even as the continuing strike figured in a petition in the Supreme Court. A division bench of Justice SP Bharucha and Justice RC Lahoti did not see any cause for early hearing and said the petition by the National Media Protection Forum could come up in normal course. The forum said it had taken legal recourse after its attempts to mediate with the information andbroadcasting ministry on behalf of the employees failed to succeed.
