Mumbai, April 13: The Chokseys, ex-promoters of the country's largest paints company Asian Paints, has acquired the pigment business of Goodlass Nerolac Paints.The acquisition deal by Choksey group company Mazda Dye-Chem would also include the technical knowhow of Goodlass Nerolac in the field of Phthalocyanine pigments (both alpha and beta and their derivatives as also the full range of colorants for detergents).
Mazda Dye-Chem, controlled by Amit Choksey, has recently acquired Coltech Chemicals, a manufacturer and exporter of Green-7 pigments. Mazda Dye-Chem is the largest manufacturer of quality blue pigments in the country and is a supplier to leading detergent makers including Hindustan Lever.
"With the current acquisition of the aforesaid technical knowhow and pigment business from Goodlass Nerolac Paints, Mazda Dye-Chem is moving to become a large supplier of colourants to the detergent manufacturers of the country," said a company release.
"Amit Choksey is looking for further acquisitions inrelated fields to strenthen his position in the field of pigments," the release added.
