VSNL will be investing Rs 100 crore in the new joint venture to be finalised immediately after the Government announces its new DTH policy, company sources told PTI on Monday.

The joint venture would address the emerging DTH market offering various facilities required for the industry.

The Government is finalising a DTH policy and a group of ministers comprising ministers of information and broadcasting, finance, communications, home and Defence is seized of the matter.

VSNL is the sixth largest equity holder in IntelSat (International Telecommunications Satellite Organisation), which is a consortium of 143 countries and operates over a dozen communication satellites.

Although IntelSat's equity proposal in the joint venture was not immediately known, sources said the jointventure would be using IntelSat transponders, manily in the Ku-band, for DTH operations.
