Mumbai, Apr 12: Confectionery major Cadbury India has appointed four new directors on the board of the company. They are Bharat Puri, Jaithirth Rao, Prashant Chhaya and Johan Strydom.The company, in a notice to shareholders, has moved special resolutions to appoint these directors on the board. Puri, who served an initial career with Asian Paints prior to joining Cadbury at the markting helm, has been appointed executive director for three years.
Jaithirth Rao fills in the vacancy caused by the resignation of ML Apte last year. Rao is chairman of Mphasis Softwar Services with varied experience in banking and corporate finance.
Prashant Chhaya has been appointed director on the board of the company with effect from February 25, 1999, to fill in the vacancy caused by the resignation of Brian Rodgers, and as executive director for three years. Prior to this appointment, Chhaya was general manager (projects and engineering development) with the company. He joined the company in 1983 as engineeringdevelopment executive.
Johan Strydom will be appointed additional director of the company for three years beginning March 1, 1999. With a business management (hons) degree and diploma in management and confectionery manufacture, he brings with him 20 years of experience in plants of Cadbury Schweppes, Cadbury SA group and Cabdury Russia.
There are 14 directors on the board of the company. Recent appointments include Marico Industries managing director Harsh Mariwala who is also on the board of Unichem. The other board members are chairman CY Pal, managing director Rajeev Bakshi, Patrick Fleming, NY Iyer, Ian Johnston, TF Spurling, G Sridhar, Peter Calverley and SN Talwar.
