Prasar Bharati stalemate continues

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
New Delhi, April 11: The stalemate in the Prasar Bharati continued as Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) employees went on with their agitation on Sunday after the Government ruled out talks with the striking staff.

The nation-wide indefinite strike by over 20 cadres on the issue of pay parity entered the sixth day disrupting work in Doordarshan and AIR.

The employees are determined to continue their agitation despite information and broadcasting minister Pramod Mahajan's refusal to talk to them as long as they were on strike, sources in the United Forum of Prasar Bharati Employees said.

Suspension orders are also being issued to some of the striking employees, including union leaders, Prasar Bharati sources said.

They said around 10 suspension notices were being sent while the striking employees claimed that there were 25 suspensions in the offing.
