CMC to computerise DDA operations

CMC has signed up with the Delhi Development Authority to computerise the latter's operations. CMC has proposed a state-of-the-art technology to address DDA's IT needs on a turnkey basis.

The solution broadly consists of collecting and updating customer-based information from a single source, maintaining registration details, conducting draw of lots, sending demand letters to customers, maintaining status of payment details, reconciliation with banks and maintaining information of all legal formalities done with customers on possession of properties.

The software solutions being implemented at DDA have been specially designed keeping in mind suggestions from DDA customers and end users and consists of various modules for different departments, CMC said is a statement in New Delhi.

Modi-Telstra offers roaming facility

Cellular service provider in Calcutta Modi-Telstra on Wednesday launched its international roaming facility that allows subscribers touse mobile phones from other cities and abroad with the existing number.

The company has signed bilateral agreements with international leaders in cellular telephony thus ensuring worldclass connectivity, easy-to-use facilities, value-added benefits and round-the-clock access in India and abroad, a company release said.

Compudyne opens software development centre

Bangalore-based Compudyne Winfosys Ltd has opened a 100 per cent export-oriented software development centre which will be dedicated to its Japanese business partners. The centre was opened by Japanese Data Design Co representative Tokio Konda on Wednesday at the Software Technology Park of India, Electronic City, in Bangalore. Winfosys' areas of operation include software development, networking systems integration and IT training.

Krone, WS Industries ink pact

Krone Communications and WS Industries (India) Ltd have inked a deal on the implementation of data and voice networking projects for large and medium projects on aturnkey basis. The Bangalore-based subsidiary of the German company, Krone's AccessNET range will be put in place by WS Industries to provide seamless and end-to-end connectivity, a release said.

Singapore emerges top IT-driven economy

Singapore has emerged as one of the world's top information-driven economies, and Asian countries in general have outpaced Europe in progress in the field, an industry research group said on Wednesday.The International Data Corp, (IDC) placed Singapore at fourth place -- next only to to the US, Sweden and Finland -- in its annual Information Society Index (IST) rankings for 1998.
