MMTC targets 40% rise in exports
Super star trading house MMTC Ltd has embarked on a four-pronged strategy to achieve an ambitious 40 per cent growth in exports at over Rs 1500 crore during the current financial year by forging joint ventures abroad and undertaking agricultural exports including that of wheat. MMTC chairman and managing director SD Kapoor said he was confident of attaining the growth target despite a "difficult" year.Opel Astra sales
Riding on immense popularity for the recently -launched limited edition version of Opel Astra, General Motors India limited (GMI) has recorded an over 151 per cent surge in sales during March 1999 to touch 402 units from 160 units in February. The sales figure during the month also represents a 53 per cent jump over 263 units sold in march last year.
India Cements output up
Cement major India Cements Ltd ended the financial year 1998-99 with a cement production of 54.64 lakh tonnes and despatchs of 54.97 lakh tonnes. Thefigures includes production of 17.92 lakh tonnes and despatches of 18.05 lakh tonnes by Raasi Cements Ltd. Group company Visaka Cement Industry produced 2.19 lakh tonnes.
GIPCL improves performance
Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) registered record breaking performance for the second consecutive year as it achieved 89.09 per cent plant load factor (PLF) during the year ended on March 31, 1999.
Indexpo-'99
A five-day exclusive indian trade exhibition - Indexpo'99 - will be held in Mauritius from August 11 to explore joint ventures and set up manufacturing units in South Africa and European Union. The expo will offer opportunities for targetting markets of South African Development Community (SADC), EU and Indian Ocean Commission (IOC).
