ISO certification for Tetra Pak Converting

Tetra Pak Converting (India) Ltd, a part of the Tetra Pak group of companies, has been awarded the ISO 9002 certification of Quality Management System for the 'manufacture of packaging material for use on proprietary filling machines. Audited by Lloyd Register Quality Assurance, the certification reaffirms Tetra Pak's commitment to providing its customers with the highest quality of packaged liquid foods such as milk, juices, oil etc.

Teepol kitchen scrubber launched

Reckitt & Colman has launched Teepol kitchen scrubber for cleaning dishes, utensils and kitchen surfaces. It has more fibre than other similar products, and is therefore firmer and lasts longer, giving better cleaning, says the company. Priced at Rs 9 the product will soon be available nationally. Teepol scrubber is the first extension of the Teepol brand of dishwash liquids.

Sumo Whiskey uncorked

BDA Ltd, the manufacturer of Officer's Choice Prestige Whisky, has launched anew brand `Sumo Select Whiskey' in the medium whiskey segment. Available in 750 ml and 180 ml sizes, the brand has been competitively priced at Rs 30 for 180 ml. Sumo Select whiskey has been launched only in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

Since its launch, the company says, it has captured a 10 per cent market share of the medium whiskey

segment in Maharashtra. The company has projected to reach sales of 1.5 lakh cases at the year end (April 1998-March 1999) in Maharashtra.

GE rolls out 10,000th scanner GE Medical Systems has rolled out its 10,000th CT scanner made in Asia. GE manufactured its first CT scanner in Asia over 15 years ago and now undertakes production in four countries--India, Japan, China and South Korea.

Wipro GE Medical Systems started manufacturing CT scanners in India in the early 90's and offers more cost-effective systems for the growing local market.

World-wide use of Visa growing

In 1997, travellers used their Visa cards to purchase more than $120 billion in coretravel and entertainment products and services world-wide, according to the findings of a study commissioned for Visa International and released recently by WEFA, formerly known as Wharton Econometric Forecasting Associates.
