The vehicle is currently available in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Tamil Nadu. Thecompany in 1998-99 sold 5,033 Spectras as against the initial target of 20,000 vehicles.

Based on the market feed-back, the company brought in a stripped down version of spectra and is also likely to launch an electronic version soon. The company official said that three more versions were being planned but declined to give more details. TVS-Suzuki in 1997-98 registered a profit of Rs 68.76 crore on a turnover of Rs 1,019 crore. According to analysts tracking the company, TVS-Suzuki would not be able to maintain its profit margins on account of the investments made in the Mysore plant for producing 1.50 lakh scooter per annum. The plant is in the process of reaching optimum capacity and the depreciation charge would eat into the profit, they added.
