Mumbai, Mar 4: The Government of Maharashtra has reduced the betting tax on horse racing by 10 per cent which will be effective after completing certain formalities with Royal Western India Turf Club.The matter was pending for the last six months. The existing betting tax with bookmakers is 20 per cent which will now be 10 per cent. Similarly, it will be 20 per cent with pool bets and 10 per cent on win and place bets.
This reduction in tax will boost official betting.
