HLL changes Wheel ad

Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) has changed all its advertisements and publicity materials relating to its detergent `Wheel', Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) was informed on Friday. Referring to the changes in Wheel advertisment HLL counsel Ashok Desai informed the commission that the new campaigan says "lemon perfume" instead of "contains lemon".He said the detergent giant had also changed the packaging material of wheel detergent and cake.

Bayer net up 2% to Rs 10 crore:

Bayer (India) Ltd has reported a modest 1.93 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 10.03 crore during the year ended December 1998, compared with Rs 9.84 crore in 1997. Sales and related income of Rs 524.98 crore for 1998 was up by 8.61 per cent over 1997, according to a statement by Bayer here on Friday. The board of directors of the company have recommended a dividend of 25 per cent.Bayer said major contribution to the turnover came from agrochemicals which registered an impressive growth, inspite of adverse agro-climatic conditions.

Wiscosin looking for ventures:

Wisconsin, a leading industrial and agriculture state of the United States, is keen to seek joint ventures in India encouraged by the country's liberalisation measures. "The state, which is meeting one-third of demand forcheese in the US, was interested in having joint venture with companies in India, as it was poised to become the largest producer of diary products in the world," Wisconsin governor Tommy G Thompson said here on Thursday. Liberalisation measures taken up at the National and state levels in the country have encouraged the Wisconsin industry to focus for joint ventures, he said.

Convergent Communications unveils router:

Convergent Communications has launched Motorola's small office multi-service router. Vanguard 6425 is a high-performance router designed to enable small or branch offices to handle integrated traffic including data, fax, voice and video over IP, Frame Relay, ISDN or X.25 services, a release said. The router is being touted as providing multiple solutions for multiservice networks in one box.

Compaq bags Rs 2-crore deal:

Compaq India has been signed on by leading courier company Elbee Services Ltd to provide its operation management services in a Rs 2 crore deal. Under the agreement, according to a release, Compaq will provide Elbee with a complete range of turnkey IT services including the supply of Compaq as well third-party hardware and software products, installation and on-going support and service.

Cableton Systems unwraps solutions:

Cabletron Systems has unveiled new solutions for its suite of SmartSwitch ATM offerings which would enable customers to better provide network services such as video conferencing, voice transmission, distance learning and telemedicine across their data networks, a company release said.
