Cardamom falls to Rs 814 a kg at auction

Mumbai: The 24th cardamom and black pepper auction held last week at the APMC (Agriculture Produce Market Commission) market in Navi Mumbai fetched a maximum price of Rs 814 per kg sharply down from the December quotation of Rs 880. The total quantity offered at the auction was 4,032.900 kilogram cardamom while no stock of black pepper was offered. Out of this 1,422.800 kg was carried over from the previous auction while 2,610.100 kg cardamom were fresh arrivals.

Total quantity sold at the auction was 1,811.500 kg and the balance 2,221.400 kg was withdrawn as the price quoted was less than the benchmark price. The maximum price offered for cardamum was Rs 814 per kilogram whereas the minimum price offered was Rs 534 per kilogram. The average price for cardamom worked out to be Rs 656.39 per kilogram for cardamom.
