JAL may join "Oneworld" group
REUTERS
New Delhi, Feb 14: The chairman of British Airways Plc has that he saw the likelihood of Japan Airlines (JAL) joining the "Oneworld" alliance in a new phase of strategic consolidation in the global aviation industry. "It would be logical to believe that eventually JAL will seriously consider joining Oneworld alliance," Sir Colin Marshall said. British Airways is a leading member of the alliance, launched last September to combat the "Star" alliance in which Lufthansa and United Airlines are key members. Marshall referred to JAL's agreements with American Airlines and Qantas Airways which are also members of "Oneworld" as a pointer towards its possible entry into the group.Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
