New Delhi, Feb 14: Samsung Electronics IT division is targeting a 60 per cent growth in 1999 over last year with the slated launch of a number of products. The Korean major is planning to launch Laser Beam Printers, DVD-Rom drives, Flat CRT colour monitors, rewritable CD-Rom drives and TFT-LCD monitors within this year in the Indian market.Samsung's IT division has grown at a rapid rate of 75 per cent establishing a leadership position in colour monitor, hard disk drives and CD-Rom drives. Samsung is now the market leader in colour monitors, hard disk drives and CD-Rom drives.
The company has shipped 235,000 colour monitors, 195,000 hard disk drives and 78,000 CD-Rom drives garnering a market share of 28 per cent in colour monitors, 33 per cent in hard disk drives and 20 per cent in CD-Rom drives. Meanwhile, Samsung has delivered the first lot of its CDMA terminals to Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL).
