LG plans cricket world cup advertisement blitz

Cashing in on the cricket fever, Korean major LG Electronics will spend $12-13 million in the run-up to the world cup launching at least one new product every week promoting the company's brand equity. In line with its worldwide strategy, LG's Indian arm will spend between to Rs six to eight crore by June this year on local advertising, in a bid to carry its name to the remotest corners in the country. "With the kind of investment strategy, we've planned, we want to achieve in 25 months what BPL did in 25 years," LG Electronics managing director Kim said. "While the consumer appreciates our commitment to quality and the constant product upgradation, we're still low on consumer recall," Kim told PTI in an interview.

Rediff Communications revenue on the rise:

Internet content pioneer Rediff Communications Ltd (RCL) said over the weekend that its revenues from online commerce were increasing sharply every month. "Our revenues are growing at 50 to60 per cent month-to-month," Rediff's chairman Ajit Balakrishnan told Reuters. He declined to break out revenues, but said the firm was generating several million rupees each month. Rediff was the first in India to enable consumers to pay for orders with credit cards and cheques. "Almost all payments for products were made through credit cards. Only 10 per cent of people who buy products from us pay by cheque....90 per cent use credit cards," he said.

Visteon plans car audio systems launch:

US-based Visteon Automotive Systems is mulling the idea of launching its range of car audio systems in India. The company is presently exploring the feasibility of introducing its models here. ``Though a final decision is yet to be taken, we are actively considering it as one of the future business areas,'' VAS director Steven Sharpe told UNI in New Delhi. The studies towards this end are presently at a premature stage. ``We are still looking at the various options of whether we can manufacture them here orjoin hands with any other company.''
