Export houses likely to get income-tax relief
The interest accruing to the exchange earners foreign currency account (EEFC) operated by 100% export oriented units and units set up in the export processing zones may be exempt from income-tax. The commerce ministry is taking up the matter with the finance ministry for possible inclusion in the 1999-2000 budget.
Maharashtra urges Enron to tap wind power
The Maharashtra government has called upon the US multinational, Enron Corp to invest in a big way in the non-conventional energy sector. The state has invited Enron Corp to invest mainly in generation of power and research and development of non-conventional energy.
Tyre industry needs Rs 500 cr investment: ATMA
The Indian tyre industry will require an investment of about Rs 500 crore in the next five years to meet the estimated rise in demand of 1.25 million tyres by the year 2005.
