Final hearing of MTNL's cellular case from March 3The Delhi high court on Wednesday posted Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) petition and private operators appeals opposing Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd's (MTNL) entry into mobile telephone service in Delhi and Mumbai for March 3, 4 and 5. A division bench headed by Justice Arun Kumar also directed all respondents as well as petitioners to file synopsis before the next date of hearing to save the court's time. As many as 16 petitions and appeals came up for hearing before the court but because of time constraint all cases were adjourned for March first week. COAI and Hutchison Max Telecom Ltd's petition alleged that MTNL's plan to commence cellular mobile telephone service in Delhi and Mumbai was in violation of terms and condition of the licence granted to the petitioner company. The petition further said allowing MTNL to start the service without floating any service was violation of procedural norms laid down in the National TelecomPolicy, 1994.
Yokogawa Bluestar bags Rs 30-crore order:
Yokogawa Blue Star Ltd (YBL) has bagged a Rs 30-crore order for implementing an automation project at Indian Oil's Mathura refinery. The prime contractor - Engineers India Ltd (EIL) - will perform the design and engineering while YBL would provide the control systems, blending packages and loading systems. The project includes the revamping and modernisation of existing offsite operations by integrating tank farm management system and introducing automation in product blending.
Cabletron Systems launches SmartSTRACK:

Mobilink launches new scheme:
Mobilink, a major paging network in the country, on Wednesday launched a new scheme named `Clublink' offering continuous discount round the year to its subscribers on a variety of diverse products and services. Under Clublink, the company offers discounts on a variety of articles and services ranging from grocery stores, household goods and appliances, automobile showrooms to professional training institutes. Clublink also gives free passes to its subscribers for events and movie premiers, a company release said in New Delhi. With an annual membership fee of Rs 300, the scheme enables one to save at least an amount equivalent to subscription charges, thus making the paging service free to the subscriber, the company claimed.
Mark McCormack to visit India:

National Semiconductor introduces two-chip power supply solution.
National Semiconductor Corporation on Wednesday introduced a pair of 3-in-1 power supply voltage controllers fully compliant with the latest VRM DC-DC converter specification for Whitney or Camino-=based PC motherboards. "As the number of power supplies required on the motherboard continues to grow, PC designers face new challenges," said Venkatesh Shan, director, National's power management product group. "The LM2637 and LM2638 will provide a minimum of six different voltages as required for Whitney or Camino-based motherboards. The major differences between National's chips and other controllers include a suite of options in the LM2638 that allow it to support the implementation of theinstantly available PC," he said.
Novell extends commitment to Java:
Novell Inc, the world's largest networking company, announced a licensing agreement that allows Sun and Novell to explore the possibilities of Java and Jini-enabled devices on networks that support Novell Directory Services. The agreement allows the two companies to examine leveraging the intelligence of NDS and its user and resource data to manage Jini-enabled devices, including consumer and hand-held electronic devices. Jini technology is a new Java-based technology from Sun which allows devices to find and use each other on a network.
