Intel Singapore director lauds Centre's policy

Our Bureau
Mumbai, Jan 27: Intel Corporation sees a major role for India in the Internet revolution. The global chip giant says with the number of web users growing and corporates showing interest in Internet related businesses, India is poised to take a quantum leap in the segment. Speaking at the Nasscom 10th anniversary, Intel Singapore director Dave Perks said time has come to remove all barriers.

"You are on the right track with the ISP privatisation," Dave said. "Internet means news business opportunities, new rules, instant access to information and speed, highly critical in any business," he said while speaking on the topic, Internet and e-commerce.

He cited the status of America On-line in the Internet business and said more than 1.25 billion people use the web facility. Dave, however, cautioned that no government should limit the global deployment of technology. Dave mentioned the concerns of security in net deals as an issue to be dealt with.
