The Indian Hotel Company, owner of the Taj group of hotels, has reported a 6 per cent drop in net profit to Rs 42.08 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 1998, compared to Rs 44.12 crore posted in the same period last year.The third quarter profit also includes a net adjustment of Rs 1.98 crore for earlier periods.
While the sales and operating income have gone down by 7.45 per cent to Rs 164.68 crore compared to Rs 177.95 crore, the turnover has been reported at Rs 170.48 crore against Rs 182.21 crore. This includes a higher contribution from other income at Rs 5.80 crore from against Rs 4.26 crore earlier.
The gross profit has been reported at Rs 59.42 crore, compared to Rs 60.24 crore last year. The company has brought down the expenditure to Rs 105.08 crore from the Rs 115.67 crore reported in the same period last year, said the company release.
