Railways plans to improve on-board catering services

New Delhi, Jan 23: Indian Railways has decided to revamp on board catering services in a big way to make them more customer-focussed and quality-oriented. Apart from involving a Netherland-based company to improve supply of packed food on board, the Railways have also identified 30 more trains for providing upgraded catering services on the pattern of Rajdhani by March. he additional facilities will include improved preparation, packing and presentation of food items. Meals will be served through trolleys in upper classes and specially designed meal carriers in other classes.A comprehensive plan for designing the pantries, base kitchens and presentation of food items is being worked out to bring about feasible improvement in catering services.
