Hyderabad, Jan 20: The Rs 700-crore Thapar group company Greaves Ltd launched the 50 hp tractor -- SAME Greaves 503 -- here on Wednesday to cater to the Andhra market. The tractor will be manufactured at Ranipet plant in Tamil Nadu in technical collaboration with SAME of Italy.According to Greaves chief operating officer Suresh Dadlani, the new tractor will have unique features which include a power-packed highly reliable engine, fool-proof oil immersed sealed brakes, the first-ever cooling system with no loss tank, a forceful hydraulic system, an independent power take-off (PTO), advanced electrical system and suspended pedals for fatigue-free operation.
Dadlani told newsmen that the tractor will ensure better value for the money with an extremely fuel-efficent engine and a larger fuel tank. It had been designed to suit the year 2000 emission norms, he added.
The Ranipet plant is fully commissioned with an investment of Rs 45 crore, with an installed capacity of 15,000 tractors annually. The plant hasprovision to increase the engine power between 60 to 70 hp capacity. At present, the plant is engaged to produce 50 hp power engine.
Andhra Pradesh being one of the fastest growing states in the country, Dadlani said, the company will focus on the state as most favoured. He said, "we have the highest power in the 50 hp capacity engine with better features than others in the 50 hp segment." SAME of Italy is a pioneer in diesel tractor technology. The company manufactures widest range of new generation tractors from 25 hp to 256 hp.
