Calcutta, Jan 14: Mahindra & Mahindra's newly launched Armada Grand is poised to redefine competition in the utility car segment. The eight-seater Armada Grand has features similar to Tata Safari at an affordable price, claimed the company's press release.
Armada Grand is a redesigned and refined version of Armada 98 of M&M with a distinctive appearance and new generation chassis in addition to a host of new features. Priced at Rs 4.84 lakh in Calcutta, the car will be available in four different colours -- Moondust Silver, Panther Black, Tourmallard Green and Diamond White.
The release noted that the exterior has been restyled with power steering, central locking systems and redefined suspensions with new springs. Armada Grand has 2498cc diesel XD3 engine which offers an excellent combination of power and fuel with M&M officials claiming a mileage of 10-11 km per litre in city conditions.
According to M&M area manager Gaurav Saxena, while sales volume in the utility segment was down by 30 per cent, the company's sales are down by seven per cent in the current fiscal. He felt that the sales are likely to pick up as the financial year comes to a close.
At present M&M controls 90 per cent of the rural segment and its marketshare for all its models put together is 60 per cent.
