Centre eases equity-linked scheme norms
The government has allowed mutual funds to float open-ended equity-linked saving schemes (ELSS). This is, however, subject to the condition that a mutual fund will be permitted one open-ended fund under the category.
Court upholds SEBI powers to impound ill-gotten gains
A division bench of the Gujarat high court on Tuesday ruled that the Securities and Exchange Board of India has the powers to impound "ill gotten" gains under Section 11 and 11 (B) of the SEBI Act and can issue any directions under the said sections to protect the interest of investors.
SEBI asks Hikal Chem, Sumitomo promoters to make open offer
The Securities & Exchange Board of India has directed Sumitomo Corporation of Japan as well as the associate firms of Hikal Chemical Industries Ltd's promoters to make an open offer to the public shareholders of the company.
