Hacking the plan
The government has decided to cut this year's annual plan outlay by 10 per cent. This was expected, but is disquieting nevertheless.
Delaying tactics
Congress, has once again managed to postpone the second most important bill that was supposed to be cleared in the winter session. The lower house of the parliament, was adjourned on Wednesday without clearing the controversial patents bill.
Asian crisis not to blame for export slump
Much misgiving has been aired by focusing Asian currency turmoil as the major factor for the poor growth in the country's export during 1997-98 and thereafter.
