Sebi investor survey

Sebi is conducting a survey to estimate the number of investors in the country in a bid to modify its policies in their interest. The market regulator is also coming with a "state of the capital market" document to give a total picture of the stock markets from 1992 onwards. Sebi has appointed NCAER for conducting the survey among 3.5 lakh investors across the country.

"This would the biggest survey of its kind in the country and is aimed at knowing investor views on the state of the capital market and the problems faced by them in the market," Sebi chairman D R Mehta said. He said the survey will also help Sebi in improving its functioning and policies for smooth functioning of the securities markets. The survey would be conducted in urban, semi-urban andrural areas and the findings of the survey are expected by February.
